Abortion is a very emotional and highly ethical topic. Obviously, there will be many contradictory views on this matter, concerning whether it is moral, ethical or a violation of human dignity and rights. So the main question arises. Should abortions be made illegal everywhere, including Belize? First we must make note that abortions are done for several reasons. These include health risks, mental issues and those that just demand it because of irresponsibility. However, we must ask ourselves. Why are these women even in the position to have to consider an abortion? If they know their health is at risk or their mental state is unbalanced, why would they risk developing a child by engaging in sexual activity? Also, what makes it right for women to freely have sex, but then abort the life of a living human being? Therefore, I believe that abortions are wrong for any reason and that they should be illegal everywhere even in our country, Belize.
