Belize's Money Management

Belize is in the middle of a recession and is indebted to several countries. This is old news. Therefore, we would think that governments and city councils would take whatever measures possible so as to reduce inefficient costs. However, it seems that that is not the case. For several weeks now, I have observed roads being fixed in the same manner they were before they got destroyed. By now, they should realize that proper money (whether it be a large amount of not) should be spend on roads and other means of traveling so as to reduce constant repair. In the long run, the cost of building a well defined road would be less than constantly having to repair large pot holes and cracks. The problem of money management not only applies to the Belizean government but to investors as well. All around Belize City, we can see several unfinished or abandoned buildings. What were their intentions? How much was placed into the construction of those buildings? I don’t know. However, these buildings are obviously an enormous waste of money. In studying economics, I know that investing is an important part to an economies success. However, investors must manage their money supply and know when to best utilize their savings so as to reap the greatest profits. Investors in Belize seem confused about what they want to do and in the process, provide no form of money flow in the economy. Instead they just waste space and time that could be used elsewhere.
